Key research area:
Polymer physical chemistry – Structure/property relationships – Dielectrics – Ferroelectrics – Composites – Materials for Energy
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Dr Florian Le Goupil is an assistant professor (Bordeaux INP) at the Laboratoire de Chimie des Polymères Organiques (LCPO CNRS UMR5629) in Bordeaux.
He has a strong background in physical chemistry of crystalline and semi-crystalline materials, both organic and inorganic, with an emphasis on dielectric, ferroelectric and electrocaloric materials, and the development of measurement systems to characterise them.
Dr Florian Le Goupil obtained his PhD in Materials Science from Imperial College London in 2013, where he worked on structure/property relationship of ceramics to improve their electrocaloric effect. After a first post-doctoral experience at Imperial College London focused on the development of inorganic relaxor ferroelectrics, he joined the LCPO as a Marie-Curie research fellow in 2016. There, he turned his attention to engineering the micro-structure of semi-crystalline polymers and composites, and use them as more sustainable and energy-efficient materials for electrocaloric cooling and other energy applications.
SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTION:
Dr Florian Le Goupil has co-authored 22 articles and books (> 1k citations, h = 14) as well as 1 patent.
