Polymers from Biomass for Photovoltaics

In the context of energy transition, while it is crucial to shift towards efficient renewable energies such as solar, wind, or geothermal, it is essential to consider the materials used in this new paradigm. Often, only the intrinsic performance of materials is taken into account, neglecting the impact of their manufacturing processes and their recyclability. Therefore, this topic (part of an ANR-funded project) aims to target sustainable polymeric materials and shaping processes for use in the field of organic photovoltaics (OPV). For instance, the proposal involves enhancing access routes to substrates and sealing polymers more sustainably, integrating building blocks derived from biomass. These could facilitate their biodegradability and recycling.
